John McEnroe from the USA, Yannick Noah from France and Mats Wilander from Sweden were the biggest names at Senior Masters Cup held from 22 to 24 September of 2016 at the Puente Romano Tennis Club in the heart of the Golden Mile in Spain’s most glamorous coastal city. Three illustrious names joined by Albert Costa, Sébastien Grosjean and Younes Al Aynaoui who completed the list of participants.
“It is a privilege for us to welcome these three world tennis legends back to Marbella. The Senior Masters Cup was designed to take place in Marbella and to become one of the city’s leading social and sporting events”, said tournament director Albert Costa.
The list of big names was headed by tennis’ number one showman, John McEnroe, who found a worthy opponent in talented and charismatic Frenchman Yannick Noah, an expert in entertaining the public and Mats Wilander, a great clay court player. They all have great memories of Marbella, as they said in Roland Garros.
The matches took place during the evening (7 pm and 9 pm) and were broadcasted by Teledeporte (TVE). During the day, attendees and sponsors were able to enjoy the facilities of the Puente Romano Beach Resort & Spa. The tennis is also the perfect excuse to play some golf, see the ProAm tennis with the stars and enjoy the hospitality area.
The Senior Masters Cup offers an exclusive, 1,600-square-metre VIP lounge that opens at 6 pm and culminate with a cocktail dinner after each match. Attendees are able to enjoy another facet of Yannick Noah in the VIP Lounge when the charismatic Frenchman shows off his musical talents on stage.
The Senior Masters Cup is being brought to Marbella by Barcelona-based company Tennium which, among numerous other tennis-themed activities, manages and organises the European Open in Amberes, the ATP 250.
